Even when I entered university in 2005, this place was already a very popular restaurant in front of the school. It was hard to get a seat during peak hours, and it had so many fans. It looks like there's a line now... The interior, from the chandelier above to the murals on the wall, is just overwhelming. Even the background music is amazing. It was truly this overwhelming back then too. In 2005, it was even more surprising, as there were fewer restaurants like this. But this place has just remained unchanged. Doesn't it feel like a real addiction suddenly? Especially since it was in front of the Sungkyunkwan pharmacy department. That's amazing. Oh. The shock of coming straight here after being in a Hanok building, that's its greatest charm. It was really popular back then. It still seems popular now, but now it might be more of a trendy popularity, whereas back then it was simply one of the best restaurants in Seoul. There probably aren't many curries more famous than this in Seoul. I ordered the whole chicken curry set. This is the restaurant's signature dish, a whole chicken curry. I couldn't eat this when I was in university. It was too expensive, so I only remember being able to eat half a chicken. And for this one, I ordered the lamb curry; I ordered it a bit spicier. Another signature here is this rice cake, which was probably baked with butter. It's not just regular rice; it's scorched rice (nurungji). I remember it being very delicious. It's spicy. Yeah. It's refreshing. But it's really interesting here. It's fried chicken. Yeah. It's either boiled or fried and then topped, so it has that Maillard reaction. That's why it's a bit oilier and the crispy bottom tastes good. Like electric grilled chicken. Oh, I remember that slightly delayed spicy kick that comes afterwards. Breaking up the rice a bit and mixing it with the curry, that's delicious. Let's try the curry rice bowl. Completely amazing. Wow, it's really delicious. Eating the curry with the rice cake makes it much better. It creates a crispy-on-the-outside feeling. It's so crispy it breaks apart easily. Really delicious. Yeah. But I really loved naan. At that time, there weren't many ways to eat proper naan in Korea, so I remember eating one naan per person here. It's Indian curry, but you can also subtly taste the spicy turmeric of our Korean Vermont curry. That's right, back then I was so naive that I was truly surprised to realize that all the curries I had eaten before were fake. They've been in business for over 20 years, so I wonder if it's subtly become a bit 'K-ified,' moving slightly towards the spicy curry taste that Koreans prefer. The point where I feel familiar is that there are carrots, potatoes, and corn on top. The taste from those is familiar. Oh, it's not as spicy as I thought. Oh, it's not very spicy, but the chicken curry has a spicy kick, not really hot. Back then, I felt it was very spicy. I thought it was incredibly spicy back then, no joke. Koreans' tolerance for spice has increased a lot. Buldak-bokkeum-myeon. The lamb isn't very spicy. Yeah. But it still comes on gently. Yeah. The lamb is tender. Yeah. Putting the rice cake in the curry, it's like a commercial, but there's no meat, so it's a commercial fail. Let's try the sharp ice cream. Oh, there's something yellow at the bottom. Wow, look at the color. The color. Oh, this looks so delicious. 4,000 won? How is it? Do you feel the sourness? Oh, I feel it. It's completely yellow. Oh, it's completely new and yellow. Like an egg yolk. Yeah. Oh, what? It's so delicious. It's a very unique taste. I have to eat this. It's delicious. This dessert didn't exist in the past. I'd never heard of anyone eating dessert here.
It seems like the way to order is to first get a waiting number and then place your order.
You have to decide the level of spiciness, and I remember it being very difficult because the numbers for the extra spicy levels were so ambiguous compared to the regular ones. Some friends occasionally chose 2.5, and most chose 2.21. Should I try a strong amount? Should I make the lamb a bit spicier?
Students might not have eaten (dessert).
