If you want to taste the best street food in Seoul, I recommend visiting Gwangjang Market rather than Myeongdong. There are many authentic eateries that locals frequent. Gwangjang Market is easily accessible; if you come out of Exit 8 of Jongno 5-ga Station on Subway Line 1, you can enter the closest entrance. The market is open from 9 AM to 6 PM, but the food alley operates until 11 PM, so it's great for dinner or a late-night snack. If you are Korean, you can pay by bank transfer without cash, so keep that in mind. If you are a foreign tourist, it's a good idea to prepare cash. You must try the yukhoe (beef tartare) at Gwangjang Market. If you mix fresh yukhoe with pear and egg yolk, you'll experience a truly fantastic flavor.
